No sleeping in on Saturday morning!

Saturday is our last scheduled Community Clean Up day for the year! Think of it as our "Fall clean up".

You are ALL invited to join us (meaning other members of the community & friends of the community) to walk through the neighborhoods and pick up any litter we see.

Meet us at the Municipal Building at 8am to get your assigned area and garbage bags etc. You are also welcome to clean your own neighborhood, if that's what you prefer. We will be doing this until 1pm, but if you can't work the whole time...no worries...any amount of time will help!

Hope to see you all Saturday morning!

Tom Kossum

A special Thank You goes out to Tom Kossum for capturing the fun we had at our 7th annual CommUNITY Day celebration! Tom is another example of a Clairton resident that volunteers his talents to make Clairton a better place.

Thank you to all those who stopped by our table today at the CommUNITY Day event to learn more about the Memorial Hill Project and our group; and thank you for your donations towards the flowers we anticipate planting in the fountain.

We learned a lot today as well. We continually learn of more people who are doing good things in Clairton.
It is our mission to learn of these people and what they are doing, and pass that information onto you.

We wish to encourage others to volunteer their time with any of these organizations who are doing things in which you may feel passionate about.

We currently have many of the Organizations posted in the tab on the side labeled "Organizations". We will be updating this tab with the information we learned today.

Again, thank you for making this day the wonderful day it was!

Its a Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood!

Mr Rogers would have been proud had he seen our Community come together today for our 7th Annual CommUNITY Day celebration! What a Wonderful day it was!

The Unity Group of Clairton, which is made up of various members such as Clairton Chamber of Commerce, Community Economic Development Corporation of Clairton, Clairton City Council, Clairton City School District, and many of our Churches, sponsored this event today.

The weather was gorgeous, the turnout was great. Both young and old enjoyed themselves.

While people enjoyed the multitude of FREE things to do, see, and eat, one of the most impressive things was the many volunteer organizations that were there to help those who need it. The Unity Group itself is helping bring UNITY to Clairton by bringing us all together in one place to learn more about each other in a positive way.

Thank You, Unity Group...and Thank You to all those who participated in making this event as great as it was!

Looking forward to next year! Maybe we can have one in the Spring too??? :)

According to Wikipedia, Labor Day is an American federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 3 in 2012) that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers.

Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans, and is celebrated with parties, parades and athletic events.[1]

While many of us are just happy to have a long weekend off from work, we are more aware these days how fortunate we are to have jobs.

Take time to reflect today on how far America has come through the achievements of its workers. It is through the hard work of many men and women that America is what it is today.

We must not lose the work ethics of our ancestors, but rather build upon what we have learned from them.

We have these holidays to remember and to give thanks...
Thank you to our soldiers...Veterans Day...Thank you to those who served and died...Memorial Day...Thank you for our independence....Fourth of July, and this weekend...Thank you to ALL our Workers who make America what it is today.

Last Day at the pool...

Labor Day marks the last day the Clairton park pool is open for the 2012 season.

Thank you to the City of Clairton for providing the community this beautiful pool.

Thank you to all the life guards and other staff who maintained the pool and the facilities and kept the patrons safe.

Thank you to all those who have supported the pool with their attendance!

I hope to see all of you next year for another wonderful summer!
