 Many communities have rescheduled the trick or treat times due to the predicted weather conditions caused by hurricane Sandy.
Clairton has also changed the date and time to November 3, from 4-6 p.m. Please help relay this information to friends and neighbors. Please consider joining us and becoming part of a group of people who volunteer their time to make Clairton a better place. Open Your Heart to a Senior (www.openyourhearttoasenior.org) is an initiative funded by the United Way with a goal to match Allegheny County seniors in need of assistance with caring volunteers.
Open Your Heart to a Senior is a collaborative of six local agencies and volunteers are needed to provide the following types of help to seniors in Clairton: -rides to medical appointments -help with grocery shopping -friendly visiting and friendly phone calls -leaf raking and snow shoveling -Meals on Wheels meal deliveries Anyone interested in volunteering can visit www.openyourhearttoasenior.org or call PA211 for more information.  The fall clean-up of the Maple Avenue Garden at the corner of State and Maple will be on Saturday October 27th, from 9 AM to ? We have to pull out the remaining flowers, take out the irrigation system, and remove the plastic and mulch from the beds to prepare the garden for the winter. All are welcome, the more hands the better! Bring your friends, relatives, mothers-in-law, cousins from out of town....anyone! Plan on getting "down and dirty" as this will be a messy job -- but fun!
