This page and information was created in 2012.  This is when RCT began.  RCT was/is an effort to bring the community together through sharing information and via example.

We strongly believe in CIVICS and community involvement in helping structure our city and way of life.  While the Memorial Hill project in 2012 was not the 1st time someone took the initiative to restore it, it also has not been the last.  Several others have done so since.

The responsibility for maintaining spaces like Memorial Hill may rest with the city, but with so many pressing needs, it cannot always be a top priority. That is why community involvement is so important.

As citizens, we can:
*Volunteer a few hours to help with cleanups or planting.
*Adopt small areas (a row of steps, a section of hillside) to maintain.
*Organize “work days” through churches, schools, or clubs.
*Share the history of Memorial Hill with younger generations so it isn’t forgotten.
*Raise awareness and gently remind local officials that the community values this site.

When neighbors pitch in, even in small ways, it shows pride, builds unity, and makes the city’s job easier when they can devote resources. Together, we keep the legacy alive.

***Project and Pictures Below are from 2012 and are being posted again as proof of what can be accomplished when "regular people" come together. ***
Please join us in restoring Memorial Hill.
Below are pictures of the efforts of the volunteers who are working diligently to make a difference.

Memorial Hill is a historical treasure. The hope in restoring it is not only the peaceful beauty of the area but to instill respect in the next generation and the generations that follow.

This example of selfless work to restore and honor these men won't be forgotten.

Next Memorial Day this area can be rededicated and the story told to the community of how important it is not to lose sight of people who make sacrifices for a better world. Like these men, we have to be examples.

We are making a statement. We are fighting too; we are fighting to turn the tide. We are fighting to bring our community together as one by working side by side one project at a time.
